Frequently Asked Ring Questions

"Can you build from my drawings?" "How do we get our ring sizes?" "What if the ring needs to be sized after received?" "How do I request a bid for a ring?" "What if we need to have our rings sized?"
We will build the ring to the size that you request, and we build everything with an eye toward service. You will find in most cases that sizing the ring locally is the best option, this makes sense because they can very accurately guage what size you will need based on their first hand knowledge. We engineer our products to be serviced, so worry not about a slight adjustment in size if you got the original size wrong. Everything we build is quite servicable so sizing locally is the easiest and smartest way to go on most items. Often the charges for sending a ring across the country can grreatly exceed the cost of locally servicing that item, even with those 300% markups and stuff... Often the safest way to get your size "just right" is to have two or three retail counter jockies measure you, then average the sizes to soften the impact of a less than experienced or attentive salesperson who got it close, but not right on... Averaging makes sense, and gives you the best and most accurate size...
"How long will a custom job to take?"
Most platinum custom jobs will take between three to four weeks, but elaborate and ornate engraving can easily add a week. If you are in a blazing hurry to propose then please consider a solitaire, which can be supplied and set the same day. For elaborate custom jobs I always want to head for quality and value, not process something so fast that a detail or step might be missed, quality is what this is all about, so let's build something worth the having together, shall we? We don't want to be just another jewelery site, we want to use the manufacturing experience of tens of thousands of successfully completed family heirlooms and treasures we've built to show you want can build yours too. If you want fast then that if not always for the best, so if you want the best possible job ask how long it should take, and "listen"... we do this for a living folks, and we want you to be happy, so it's a matter of taking things one step at a time, and never being in a rush to fail... It's a step by step process that yields the best of the best, so if that sounds like what you're after then let's "ROCK"... {Grin}...
"Do you guys specialize in platinum only?"
Oh my, no. Most of the products that we build for our clients are indeed built from gold, but platinum is experiencing a serious increase in awareness and it is by far the best metal for holding precious stones. If you love white metal I suggest platinum, for it far outstrips gold in it's durability and resistance to wear. If most of the jewelry that the person you are considering a jewelry gift is yellow gold carefully consider before changing to a pure white ring. Diamonds in the upper colors really look great in platinum, but watch out for resetting markedly lower color diamonds in platinum, for they will be compared to this brilliant white metal, which will accentuate the color dramatically. Platinum is more expensive than gold, but it has properties that make it the logical choice for the white metal lovers... Retail markups drive platinum prices up, but we're changing that. We prefer the 90% platinum/10% irridium mixture, for the strength and properties it yields. 18Kt gold is 75% fine gold, while 14Kt is but 58.8% fine gold, I quite prefer 18Kt in most cases for the color and for the strength, and resistance to discoloration as well.
"What type of styles do you guys offer?"
This is perhaps best answered with two separate answers, one for custom design and one for standard classic offerings. In custom I offer that we have no limitations, and can build anything that our visitor or client might request. We need good instructions and specifications, for the project will be determined by this information so refining it to the point of clarity is also critical for custom design and special order. For band rings and standard offerings like platinum/18Kt mixed metals and hand made rings we offer a huge selection, which is growing daily by the way. We offer custom celtic ring designs, original designs that are ours alone, and we can custom make something for you using your art as well! Platinum custom is a specialty of ours, and we are becoming quite renown for our creative and exciting projects, which we track on line when time permits.
"Do we have to buy the diamond too?"
No, but if you do you will save big time! ...we specialize in custom design & loose diamonds, so you can see a ring here that has a round center, and capture the flavor using your marquise or pearshape. Creativity is not having to pay for glittery names in showrooms, it's quality be design and attention to detail that makes jewelry special. Sometimes I wish that this industry would have appreciate more that it's not price points that matter, it was always about the people. We can gladly design something using your stones, match a stone u have or even a trade-up is entirely possible. We build to your specifications, so dream big here grasshopper, you can actually afford to :) Use your existing stones and save. I guess the point is that we're here to serve your needs now, professionals to a person, ready to use the same skills we used to keep the promises that our customers made, thousands of times a year. How might we be of assistance?"
"Can you do a Celtic ring with my design?" "How should I clean my ring?"
Using a tooth brush assures that you will destroy the luster of a properly polished ring, causing micro-scratches which will greatly reduce the luster. I highly recommend soaking diamond and precious metal jewelry in ammonia and water over night, then aggressively rinsing them in warm water. "Do not do this with pearls, opals, corral or any organic gems", but for faceted stones this works great, and protects the look of the ring much better. If the ring is truly dirty you should have it steam cleaned, and properly refinished. Avoid chlorine and bromide, standard pool and spa chemicals, and mercury if deposited on your rings. Always remember that the surface shine in something which is damaged by aggressive brushing, so do yourself a favor and have the rings steam cleaned by a jeweler, which removes no metal and causes no damage at all...
"Why should I buy our rings from you?"
Now, that is a very good question, which I will spend a bit of time answering.

First I think that it's clear to anyone who's shopped around that markups are in the 300% area these days, so first I guess that I'd recommend considering purchasing your rings from someone who has a lower overhead than traditional retail store fronts, for the massive savings which you can realize. You are in most cases paying for the overhead with the larger percentage of your purchase dollar, so always compare and seek the best value... It never makes sense to either pay too much or buy lower quality merchandise, for it will end up costing you to "keep it alive"... For custom design and manufacturing we simply offer you more for less. Top quality and much better attention to detail than is available within the commercial industry, at all but the most expensive manufacturers. For an overview of our effectiveness I let our customers speak for us. We are here to provide top quality, lower prices and unlimited possibilities.
"What are your credentials anyway?" "Are etch wedding rings the same as hand engraved?"
"No"... They are quite different, and each has very unique properties that make it the perfect choice for certain jobs. For an example of hand engraving there m ight not be a better job than the one that I just did for Joanne LaFlamme... For an example of a photo-etch take the celtic designs and image those on a flat plate they can be rather amazing. Great detail and even using customer art is an option... In the Cory job we show well I think what can be done...

I do hundreds of world class customer drawn rings and I just love also offering many dozens of proven winners in this photo-etch process flavor. Hand Engraving is an entirely different process, and is done in the finest european tradition of engraving. You see many hand engraved rings here, as we celebrate jewelry from the benchperson's perspective, and we bench workers always appreciate finely made things. In hand engraving you can of course do about anything, but photoetching yields flat plates, about 1.8mm in thickness only... I'll have more on this later, but you get the idea :)
